Lake District GoalsThe Lake Nokomis Lake District goals are to protect the water quality of our reservoir. We will continue to fight any Aquatic Invasive Species, or any other pollution sources that threaten our body of water. We will also strive to rehabilitate any degrading conditions, and will always work to keep our waters a clean and healthy place for all to enjoy the various recreational opportunities that our reservoir offers. Clean Boats, Clean WatersAt the last District Annual Meeting, the decision was made to revive our Clean Boats/ Clean Waters, volunteer, Boat Landing Education program. Anyone who would like to help with the program, and volunteer their time at a boat landing, must be certified to serve. We need 100 hours of volunteer service to help us qualify for DNR financial grant assistance. Due to DNR changes, anyone with a prior certification should check to see if they are still certified. Anyone that desires to obtain a new certification should check on upcoming certification class availability, and registering procedures. These questions should be addressed to our Oneida County AIS coordinator, Michele Sadauskas at { msadauskas@co.oneida.wi.us } After acquiring certification, or verification of a previous certification, please contact Mike Beals { mike@busybeals.com} and he will, at your request, reserve a date/ time, and boat landing location for your service. Thanks to all past volunteers, and Welcome to any new volunteers! 2017 Lake District Meetings ScheduledAll Lake District Quarterly Board of Commissioners Meetings & the Annual Meeting have been set for 2017. Please refer to Events Calendar tab (at the top of this page), to access the actual dates and details. Important NotesAny District Member that has noticed an area of the reservoir that is becoming infested with Eurasian Milfoil, and is not being treated, should email Mike Beals. ( mike@busybeals.com ) Mike will arrange a visit to inspect, identify, and document any significant new areas of plant growth. This will allow us to stay on top of our Milfoil problem, by helping to alert Onterra LLC of sites that may require attention in future AIS treatment efforts. |
